In this role you will gain broad knowledge of the North Dakota legal system regarding parole and probation. You will gain an understanding of the circumstances why individuals are placed on parole and probation. Additionally, you will gain a basic understanding of a parole officer's responsibilities during an offender's time on supervision. You will observe and discuss general operations of parole and probation to include understanding judgments, court/parole conditions, intermediate measures, EPICS, and collateral work with stakeholders. You will spend time with a general caseload and specialty areas such as drug court, sex offender specialist, domestic violence and mental health. In general, you will get an in depth understanding into the profession of parole and probation.

Student Requirements

To be eligible for a North Dakota State Government Stipend Student Internship, a student:Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical program in the United States, andMust be at least of sophomore standing by the beginning of the internship (or must have completed the first year of a vocational/technical program by the beginning of the internship), andMust have a cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.Must be working in an internship that aligns with the student's academic major or career goals.

As an Equipment Operator, you will perform highway, roadway, and structure maintenance. The individual will work as a team member in an infirmary/clinic setting and within the Medical and Psychiatric Service Program. The position requires a holistic approach to health care service with emphasis on health maintenance through patient education and positive self-initiative. Specific duties include but are not limited to provision of health care nursing to the resident population; dispensing medication; emergency nursing care; participation in behavioral management procedures and infection control; thorough documentation of patient care and medical records; and individual, group and wellness education.

Minimum Qualifications

RN must be licensed as a Registered Nurse by the ND Board of Nursing. Requires interpersonal skills and communication skills necessary to perform job duties and must have ability to work with an inmate population on a daily basis. Strong clinical skills required. Psychiatric, medical surgical, and critical care background preferred, but not necessary. Individual must be flexible and innovative in carrying out assigned responsibilities. Must successfully complete standard background and criminal record check and drug screening.LPN requires current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the North Dakota Board of Nursing or licensure in another state and meet the eligibility requirements for licensure in North Dakota. North Dakota licensure is a condition of employment, and the employing agency will verify and document licensure upon appointment.

(Law Enforcement or EMT-B Certification is required.
