Essential Functions:Seasonal employee duties include routing land management duties on Wildlife Management Areas (fencing, signing, establishment of wildlife food plots, controlled burning, noxious weed control, mowing, tree planting and various habitat improvement functions) by use of ATS's, UTV's, tractors and various other equipment.Seasonal employees will work on thousands of acres of WMA's in a multi county district on various habitat types including wetlands, rivers, grasslands and ag land.Computer data entry.Performing equipment maintenance on ATV's/UTV's, farm equipment, mowers, chain saws, etc.Signing PLOTS (Private Lands Open to Sprotsmen) tracts.Other work opportunities may include conducting wildlife surveys, waterfowl and dove banding, assistance with PLOTS program, CWD sampling, fish netting and sampling and electrofishing.Overnight travel required (vehicles provided). Expenses while away from main workstation will be reimbursed per policy (includes motel and meals).Individual must be able to work long and/or irregular hours mostly outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must be accepted to, enrolled at or a recent graduate of a college or university. Students should be in good academic standing. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and possess a valid driver's license. Must be at least 18 years old on their start date.Basic skills/knowledge required for these positions include the ability to work alone with limited supervision, learn to operate equipment with minimal training, ability to operate OHV's and the ability to represent the department in a professional manner. Individuals must be capable of working long, irregular hours outdoors, under adverse weather conditions.Certification for OHV operation and as a commercial pesticide applicator is required within the first 30 days of employment, Game and Fish will provide training.
Preferred Qualifications

Work may involve creel surveys and data compilation loading unloading boats, nets and other equipmentAssist with habitat enhancementFisheries equipment and gear maintenance (including net repair)General maintenance of building and other equipment at District OfficesAquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) - essential functions:Conduct watercraft inspections to prevent ANS introductionEducate water users about ANS and the laws and best practices to prevent their spreadAssist fisheries professionals with ANS early detection surveysFisheries Development (boat ramps, docks, piers) - essential functions:Construction of related facilities include- boat ramps, parking areas, turnaround areas, roads and placement of required materialsOperation of a wide variety of heavy equipment which includes - compact track loaders, backhoes, pay loaders, etc. to accomplish program activitiesSigning at waterbodies throughout the stateMaintenance of deteriorated ramps, signs, courtesy docks, fishing piers, etc.Operation of power tools and small engine toolsMaintenance of heavy equipment and small engines*Fisheries development seasonals will work out of Bismarck and cover the state in construction and renovation of new/old facilities. A typical work week for development crew would consist of working Monday-Wednesday collecting 40 hours and 4-day weekends. Overnight travel may be required (vehicles provided).
