Career Description




The individual will work as a team member in an infirmary setting and within the Medical and Psychiatric Service Program. The position requires a holistic approach to health care service with emphasis on health maintenance through patient education and positive self-initiative. Specific duties include but are not limited to, provision of health care nursing to the resident population; dispensing medication; emergency nursing care; participation in behavioral management procedures and infection control; thorough documentation of patient care and medical records; and individual, group and wellness education. The position's work schedule is rotating shifts in a 40-hour work week within a facility that operates 24/7.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse by the ND Board of Nursing within two months of hire. Requires interpersonal skills and communication skills necessary to perform job duties and must have ability to work with an all-male resident population on a daily basis. Strong clinical skills required. Psychiatric, medical surgical, and critical care background preferred, but not necessary. Individual must be flexible and innovative in carrying out assigned responsibilities. Must successfully complete standard background and criminal record check.

In this role you will gain broad knowledge of the North Dakota legal system regarding parole and probation. Student Requirements

College coursework in a behavioral science, education, business or field related to the duties of the position may substitute for the work experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Two years of the experience must have been in duties comparable to those of a PO II. Incumbent must be licensable as a ND Peace Officer under North Dakota Century Code Chapter 12-63 and shall attend the first available basic peace officer training program recognized by the ND Peace Officers and Training Board (POST Board) ensuring authorization to perform the peace officer duties of a Parole and Probation Officer in accordance with North Dakota Century Code Section 12-59-20. Must have a valid class D driver's license. Parole and Probation Officer II minimum qualifications: A bachelor's degree is preferred in behavioral science, education, business, or a related field with three years of work experience in a corrections, law enforcement, social work, education, or behavioral health setting. Eligibility to be licensed as a peace officer in North Dakota OR an associate's degree with five years of work experience with individuals in corrections, law enforcement, social work, education or behavioral health setting may be considered. Must be licensable as a ND peace officer under North Dakota Century Code Chapter 12-63 and pass the critical task assessment. Must attend basic peace officer training recognized by the ND POST Board ensuring authorization to perform the peace officer duties of a Parole and Probation Officer in accordance with North Dakota Century Code Section 12-59-20.
