The Construction Crew Lead will oversee the DWR's Construction Crew which includes two full-time employees. The Construction Crew Lead is a member of the Design and Construction Section of the Water Development Division.The Construction Crew completes repairs and modifications to DWR, state agency, and political subdivision owned projects. Examples of projects completed by the Crew include: repair of principal spillway at Blacktail Dam, replacement of low-level valve actuator at Mt. Carmel Dam and Fish Creek dams, repair of trash rack at Square Butte dam, repairs to USGS gage sites, and repairs to project features on the state-owned Devils Lake Outlets. The Crew also helps with emergency flood response and occasionally the inspection of dams. Frequent overnight travel is expected during construction season, typically 3 nights per week (four 10+ hour days Monday through Thursday and sometimes Friday).

Minimum Qualifications

Requires six years of construction experience, and an associates' degree in a related field. In lieu of associates' degree, experience may be substituted on a year for year basis up to two years. Overall experience must include: Operating heavy equipment. *Vocational training for heavy construction equipment operation or a related field reflecting the required abilities for the position may be substituted for the required work experience on a year-for year basis up to two years. Experience on civil construction projects, including at least five years work experience on infrastructure related construction projects. Experience in mechanical work, welding, carpentry, and construction work.Ability to lead and direct a team on a variety of construction projects. A valid Class A commercial driver's license with air brake endorsement or ability to obtain it within 6 months of employment.Strong interpersonal and verbal skills.Ability and willingness to travel throughout North Dakota.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with survey methods and procedures. Experience with construction of water resource projects.
