Please use our Calculator to see the value of our total rewards package.:As our Environmental Scientist; you will be responsible for the general implementation and regulation of the Hazardous Waste Program. This requires you to maintain regulatory knowledge; correspond with our regulated communities; provide compliance assistance for waste generators; conduct hazardous waste and environmental inspections; write inspection reports; conduct reviews of environmental site assessments and ensure corrective action and remediation is completed when necessary; issue hazardous waste permits; input and review all RCRA data into the RCRAInfo federal database; review and approve Biennial Report data every other year for over one hundred hazardous waste facilities; prepare quality assurance documents such as quality assurance project plans (QAPPs), standard operating procedures (SOPs) and any other necessary documents; and respond to complaints from ND citizens. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. DEQ will not provide sponsorships.DEQ is filling this position through the internal recruitment process. Applicants must be internal applicants in accordance with North Dakota Administrative Code 4-07-28-02 (2). An "internal applicant" means an employee who has regular, probationary, temporary, or merit system employment status within DEQ; a previous employee who is eligible for reinstatement with DEQ; or an individual who has completed a documented internship with DEQ within the past two years. To be considered for an Environmental Scientist III, you must have a bachelor's degree in natural or physical science with emphasis in biology, chemistry, microbiology, environmental science, or closely related field and two years of related experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Preference will be given to those with experience in solid and hazardous waste management; database sciences, specifically RCRAInfo and Metabase; and in preparing/reviewing quality assurance project plans, standard operating procedures, and other quality system documents.APPLICATION PROCEDURES:All application material must be received on or before 11:59 p.m. on the closing date.
