We are looking for a candidate who identifies with this mission and has a passion for serving the citizens in our great state as a Radon Program Summer Intern. : This position is grant funded, seasonal, & typically runs from mid-May through mid-August but start dates are flexible. As our Radon Program Intern, you will be responsible for assisting the NDDEQ Radon Program Coordinator in conducting statewide outreach to promote radon testing and mitigation across the State of North Dakota which includes identifying, compiling, and creating educational outreach materials, preparing materials for Limited English Proficiency (LEP) translation, staffing educational booths promoting radon testing and mitigation, researching and ordering test kits and continuous air monitors, assisting with conducting radon testing, evaluating radon test results, and conducting follow up testing in buildings initially showing elevated radon level results. You will also assist the DEQ Radon Program Coordinator in outreach and field visits.This position is based in Bismarck; however, some travel, with overnight stays, may be required. Transportation and per diem reimbursement will be provided by the department.? MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: DEQ will not provide employment sponsorships. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. DEQ participates in E-Verify. Individuals must be enrolled in a college or university or be a recent graduate majoring in the environmental sciences, communications with science or public health focus, geology, chemistry, or in natural resource management with coursework in chemistry, biology, geology, ecology, or other related physical or natural science or scientific or public health communications.? Students with special interest in public health communications and working with limited English proficient persons are encouraged to apply. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with computers, MS Word and data management systems is preferred but not required.
