Under the direction of the director of curriculum, this position will support and assist with assigned curriculum and Learning Management System (LMS) aspects of NDCDE. This position creates detailed, engaging curriculum and quality resources, collaborates with teachers and the leadership team, and aligns learning objectives. The online curriculum designer is passionate about learning and aware of how digital technology has reshaped education, with a vision and ability to play an integral role in a seamless online course experience and satisfaction for internal and external end-users. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Structure content and activities for optimizing learning. Convert curriculum materials from various digital formats into an LMS. Investigate and recommend potential new providers and courses for NDCDE. Collaborate with teachers to customize/develop content. Ensure content matches established standards. Make corrections and update settings and instructions to third party and NDCDE-authored online courses, as needed. Prepare and maintain program and system documentation. Participate in the ongoing course correction process to ensure NDCDE's courses are properly presented and maintained to optimal state of the art standards. Provide information and guide decisions based on curriculum adoption. Provide support when needed to solve Curriculum-LMS related tickets.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in education or related discipline. At least two years' experience working within an LMS. A minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. At least two years' experience designing and virtualizing curriculum and content. Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Strong planning skills, vision, and creative intelligence. Ability to think independently, exercise initiative, collaborate on resolution strategies, and effectively implement solutions. Thorough and applied understanding of state standards and the alignment process. Evaluation and assessment skills, including collecting and using data on student and instructional performance to drive curricular improvement. Supports NDCDE's mission and can model its values.

Preferred Qualifications

A master's degree in curriculum design. Additional post-secondary training in curriculum design or a related area. Experience with HTML5 and other web-based languages preferred. Experience teaching virtually and applying best practices in virtual instruction.
