Behavioral Health Admin & Policy - Remote in North Dakota - Medical Claims Specialist Be part of the team that ensures billing is accurate and timely, so ND Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Medical Services receives monies due. As our Medical Claims Specialist, you will analyze, process and apply payments from clients, 3rd party payers and collection agencies and post receipts. You will research and respond to client inquiries and share call center duties with six teammates in between billing and posting. Additionally, you will research, analyze and process 3rd party payer explanation of benefits to ensure correct payment, follow up on denials and request processing and appeal as appropriate. To thrive in this position, you are confident, easy to work with while able to work independently. You're focused, yet able to pivot efficiently from billing work to client conversations and back. You are clear and concise when communicating. You able to connect with others easily, able to de-escalate an angry caller and able to encourage payment of some sort. You are by nature a problem-solver, digging in to find the answer. And you are adaptable and won't be frustrated by change in processes, policies, and team structure to gain efficiencies. To be considered for this position, you must have a high school diploma or GED and two (2) years experience in medical billing or in a medical insurance call center. That experience preferably is outpatient. And you must be effective connecting and communicating over the phone with all types of people. Location: ND HHS utilizes a blended workplace model. Depending on the role, employees may work from home, onsite or both. This position will work from home anywhere in the state of North Dakota with a willingness to travel for team meetings and to service delivery sites as needed.About HHS: ND HHS strives to make North Dakota the healthiest state in the nation by reinforcing the foundations of well-being: physical, economic, and behavioral.
